Short Biography

Prof Dr Klaus Tochtermann specializes in applying state-of-the-art Internet technology to support hybrid forms of knowledge transfer, and using metadata to enhance cross-media knowledge discovery. Tochtermann chairs TUG-KMI and is the director of Austria’s Competence Center for Knowledge Management. In 1996, Tochtermann received a grant from the Max Kade Foundation (USA) for a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for the Study of Digital Libraries at Texas A&M University. Research results of the years 1998-2002 have been compiled in his habilitation thesis on Personalization in the Context of Knowledge Management and Digital Libraries. In 2001, Tochtermann launched the I-KNOW Conference Series on Knowledge Management, which has developed into the largest European conference on knowledge management with about 400 international attendees.
