Chair of Landscape Ecology
Dipl. Env. Sci., Lukas Kleppin was born on February 14th 1979 in Neustadt nearby Danzig. After having visited the primary school in Poland for 3 years, he, together with his family, immigrated to Germany in 1989. He continued his school education in Bielefeld, where he visited the grammar school from 1991 and passed A-levels in 2000. When he had finished the civilian national service as an emergency medical technician in 2001, he started college and studied Environmental Sciences in Vechta. 2003 he took part in the Sokrates-program and spent a term in Salzburg, where he defined his major field of study - geoinformatics. During his studies he worked as a graduate assistant in several projects which dealt with geoinformatics and remote sensing as well as bio-monitoring. In his diploma thesis he worked on the web-based support of the EMEP/ECE-Project Atmospheric Heavy Metal Deposition in Europe – Estimations Based on Moss Analysis. 2006 K. finished his studies by passing a diploma examination. Since November 2006 he works as a research associate for the chair of landscape ecology at the University of Vechta.
